‘Jeopardy!’ Honors Betty White's Birthday With Touching Tribute
By Kristin Myers on January 17, 2022 at 7:38 AM EST
Actress Betty White passed away only weeks before her 100th birthday.
On Monday, January 17, many were hoping to celebrate Betty White’s big day. Unfortunately, she passed away on December 31 – New Year’s Eve – at the age of 99.
Although it was said that she “died peacefully in her sleep,” Betty White suffered a stroke only six days before her death. A source with direct knowledge of the incident said that Betty was “alert and coherent” after her stroke.
According to the death certificate obtained by TMZ, Betty passed away from a cerebrovascular accident, which causes a loss of blood flow to part of the brain, leading to brain tissue damage.
White’s agent and friend, Jeff Witjas, told People, “Even though Betty was about to be 100, I thought she would live forever. I will miss her terribly and so will the animal world that she loved so much. I don't think Betty ever feared passing because she always wanted to be with her most beloved husband Allen Ludden. She believed she would be with him again.”
