This new year is starting on a high note for the "Transformers" star as he popped the big question with a classic romantic gesture at the beach.
The newly engaged actor shared the good news on Instagram, which earned him the support of none other than his ex-wife and songstress, Fergie.

The Hollywood sensation appeared to know the best ways to woo a woman as he prepared a spectacular surprise for Mari's 28th birthday.
On January 8, the "Buddy Games" star revealed that the couple marked the former Miss World America's big day at the beach, where the pageant winner found a bottle that washed ashore.
In the picture, Duhamel shared, the couple was captured grinning brightly at the camera from the beachside proposal under a picturesque sunset.
The birthday girl stood slightly behind her fiancé, who held up the piece of paper that was hidden inside the bottle. The note read, "Audra Diane Mari, will you marry me?"
If the happy smiles on the couple's faces didn't cause wedding bells to ring in fans' ears, the 49-year-old entertainer's caption did justice. The actor wrote:
"It's on!! She found a message in a bottle that washed ashore and said YES!! @audramari."
This heartwarming announcement touched the hearts of thousands, who flooded the post with various congratulatory messages and emojis. Most noticeable on the list was the North Dakota heartthrob's ex-wife.
The "Big Girls Don't Cry" singer showed her support for the soon-to-be-married couple by writing, "Congrats!!!" alongside a string of green heart emojis.
