What Led To The Surgery?

Blakely was born into the family of Jason and Kimberly Bergenfeld five years ago. Her parents reported that she was diagnosed with cancer not long after, she began experiencing some incessant headaches and fevers.

She was experiencing headaches and fevers while on a ski trip with her family. Jason and Kimberly took their daughter to a pediatrician shortly after returning to Los Angeles, California.

The medical doctor that attended to her discovered that her liver was swollen and immediately rushed her to the emergency room at Los Angeles Children's Hospital. Jason confirmed that Blakely did a lot of tests.

Post-Surgery Events

The surgery to remove the tumor in her kidney was very successful – even beyond their expectations. The doctors had to remove her kidney during the surgery because it was almost rupturing and would have become worse if not attended to.

The tumor didn't lead to a terminal illness, thanks to the immediate attention of the doctors on board. The doctors also found tumors on her liver and lungs, which were removed towards the anterior part of her body.

The doctors reported that they could only tell the stage and type of cancer affecting the girl some days after the surgery. At the time of the surgery, the good news was that she was stable and past the first stage of recovery.

Blakely appeared very healthy before the headaches, fevers, and surgery, which made the incident more terrifying. The past few days were tough for Blakely's parents and everyone that knew her, but it is all under control.
