The worst face of the COVID pandemic may not be the people we have lost, although that is painful enough. It’s the fact that the fear of the disease is an easy excuse for child endangerment.
Take the case of a Texas mom, who isolated her son in the trunk of her car after he tested positive for COVID, on her way to get him tested again.
Texas Mom Did Not Want To Get Exposed to COVID

When Sarah Beam, 41, discovered that her son, 13, was COVID positive, she thought to take him for further testing. While this sounds normal, it was her method of transporting her son to the testing site that has come under fire.
Instead of safely seating the teen in the backseat of the car, the mother decided to “socially distance” even further and put him in the boot of her car.
At this point, there are no further details as to how she managed to convince her son to climb into the trunk, and if he was agreeable to it or not.
She then drove the child to the drive-through testing site for the Cypress-Fairbanks school district in northwest Houston.
The good thing is, the child was unharmed, the bad thing is what Beam does, as a profession.
This Texas Mom Of COVID Positive Son Is A Teacher

Sarah Beam is a teacher and has taught for the Cypress-Fairbanks school district since 2011. Apparently, when she reached the drive-through testing site, Bevin Gordon, director of health services for the district, asked to see the child. Only to discover the child was in the trunk.
According to Click2Houston, court documents revealed that on January 3rd, Beam drove to the testing site located at 11355 Falcon Road in northwest Harris County. A witness reported hearing something in the trunk and later stated that when Beam unlatched the trunk, the boy was found lying down inside.
The witnesses including Gordon told Beam that there would be no COVID testing till “the child was removed from the trunk and placed in the back seat of the vehicle.” As per reports, the authorities were then called to the scene.
Beam Tried To Bluff Way Through

When the police arrived, she had seated her son in the backseat but CCTV footage clearly showed Beam unlatching the car trunk to allow the child to climb out, and then get into the backseat.
According to more reports, Sarah Beam, 41, was charged with endangering a child though it’s unsure if she was placed under arrest. Following the incident, she was placed on administrative leave by the school district, and thankfully, the child was not harmed.
This just goes on to show that the fear of COVID runs rampant in the minds of many, although Sarah Beam’s behavior is pushing logic a bit too far.
Said one Instagram user, “Dam some people shouldn’t have kids because they do some stupid s**t”.
