Halle Berry has big plans for her future. After staring at her directorial debut, Bruised, Berry is looking to broaden her horizons. One way that she plans to do this is to work with up-and-coming stars. In particular, she's got her mindset on working with Spider-Man star Zendaya. Even going as far as to say that she would love to be her on-screen mother.

The Monster's Ball star though admits that she's going to have to be the one to push to make that happen. At this point in her career, she's not getting a ton of calls from studios. Instead, though she might try to lure Zendaya into a personal project of hers.

Zendaya Is Not The Only Rising Star That Halle Berry Has Her Eyes On

Halle seems to have something for everyone these days. An argument could be made that Halle Berry was a bit of a trendsetter when it comes to African-American women leads in Hollywood.

She didn't break the color barrier, but she did pave the way a bit for stars like Zendaya, and another actress who is going to try and fill her shoes. Zoe Kravitz is going to be stepping into the role of Catwoman in Matt Reeve's, The Batman. Halle Berry famously or infamously got a Razzie for her performance as the DC Comics character. She hopes though that Kravitz will fare much better in the role. Telling Variety in a recent interview,

“I’ll just tell her, get ready, they might come for you – but don’t let that affect your interpretation about who she thinks Catwoman might be,” Berry would go on to mention. “I personally think she’s going to be a wonderful Catwoman.”

What Her Plan For Zendaya Is

At this point, Halle is still keeping her cards close to her chest when it comes to her next project. Her directorial debut in Bruised has gotten "mixed reviews" from critics. With many of them point out that her work behind the lens can use some improvement. The film though just might boost Berry's acting career back to the A-list status that she enjoyed in the 90s and 2000s. With that in mind, she knows what she wants to do for her next project. She's been very specific with what she wants, and it involves Zendaya. Halle Berry mentioned,

“I have a plan, I would love to play her mother. I have an idea because I think she’s the future.”

The buzz around her movie Bruised seemed to cool down quite a bit after the movie's release. The fact that major Blockbusters, like Spider-man, ironically featuring Zendaya, also get released towards the end of 2021 kind of sent Berry's project to the background. Still, she recently received a lifetime achievement award for her contributions to black cinema. In her acceptance speech it seems that she's giving up hope about getting a big win this award season. Berry would go on to mention,

“Let’s stop coveting that and letting that be the measure of our worth and our success.”
