Over a week ago, Cardi B released her first single of 2021, “Up.” This marked her first solo single since 2019’s “Press” as well. Fans showed a lot of love for Up upon its release on streaming platforms and also praised the music video for it. They cited Cardi’s consistent creativity in her videos and believed that she exceeded expectations here again.
Now, the final numbers are in for chart positioning on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and Cardi has made history.
‘Up’ Is Highest-Debuting Solo Track By A Female Rapper This Century
Cardi‘s “Up” is debuting at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart this week. This also sets another huge milestone in Cardi’s career. According to Chart Data, this single is the highest-debuting solo track by a female rapper on the Hot 100 this century. This is the highest since Lauryn Hill’s “Doo Wop (That Thing).” The top spot on the Hot 100 goes to Olivia Rodrigo‘s “Drivers License,” which has been at No. 1 for five consecutive weeks now.
Cardi Thanks Fans For The Love

Cardi Wasn’t Worried About Getting To The No. 1 Spot On The Hot 100
Overall, Cardi is simply grateful for how well “Up” is doing. She wasn’t too focused on getting the No. 1 spot on the Hot 100 but is glad that it did have a top 10 debut. “Up” now marks Cardi’s ninth top 10 hit as she believes she’s had an underdog story.
“I want to thank my fans with the bottom & top of my heart .Ya remind of me .The underdogs so underestimated but show the f*ck out when it’s time .I really can’t believe this .I told a couple of yall I don’t care about a number 1 a top 5 is a big win for me.”
