Olympic gymnast Nastia Liukin stripped down to swimwear with her leg lifted as dangerous storm warnings hit her city of Dallas, TX last night. The 31-year-old Russian-born star, who grew up in a country that knows snow all too well, updated her Instagram as the weekend kicked off, and it was an unusual photo complete with a likewise unusual caption. Nastia, followed by 1 million and moving to the U.S. as a child, was showing off her trademark wit and jaw-dropping body – seemingly, to fight the bad weather. Check it out below.
Scroll for the photo. It comes as Dallas-Fort Worth braces itself for a winter storm potentially placing “major stress” on infrastructure, with up to six inches of snow forecasted for the region. Nastia’s solution on Friday was to place her Gold Medal body in a tight swimsuit, plonk herself in the ocean, and link the throwback to the forecasted doom and gloom.
The photo showed the five-time Olympic medalist slightly submerged as a giant wave hit the shore, with Nastia seated on a plastic sun chair and getting pretty wet.
The 2008 all-around champion, no stranger to snow with Christmas and New Year spent at her Montana cabin, highlighted her tiny waist and steely-strong legs as water lapped around her – the trendy bathing suit, all spot-print and with a circular gold belt, did wonders for the gymnast’s killer body, with Nastia’s blonde hair also blowing around in the wind.
“Only thing I can currently think about during this “winter storm warning” in texas,” Nastia humorously captioned her photo. See it below!
As to what Nastia and the city of Dallas is facing, well, it ain’t pretty. The local weather service yesterday issued a statement warning residents:
“Travel will be dangerous,” adding: “The heavy snow and forecast long duration of extremely cold temperatures will likely lead to major stress on the region’s infrastructure as well as crippling travel for several days.”
No problem for Nastia, and no problem for her followers who are loving the snap. Fellow gymnast MyKayla Skinner even left a like. See Nastia crossing a gym on her hands below!
Nastia, currently gearing up for the 12th annual Nastia Cup, is living proof that professional gymnastics comes with a short shelf life, herself having quit the beam aged just 22 back in 2012. Liukin has since founded The Muse Collective empowerment startup, she retails a $55 Celery Green Cream with Volition, and her collabs span from leotards and workout equipment to cute hair accessories. There’s even a dog care brand in the works for the “Dancing With the Stars” alum.
