According to NBC News, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge denied a motion brought by Jamie at a hearing this week in the case.
Last year, the judge appointed a co-conservator, Bessemer Trust, to work with Jamie on managing Britney’s estate. The singer has been trying to get her father removed from the conservatorship arguing she’s afraid of her father.
In his motion, Jamie’s lawyer wrote, “As noted above, the Proposed Order purports to establish powers to be exercised jointly by Mr. Spears and Bessemer Trust, but the Petition filed by Mr. Ingham and the order of the Court addressed only the appointment of Bessemer Trust. Neither the Petition nor the Court’s order modified the powers previously conferred upon Mr. Spears.”
Jamie believed he should have the ability to open trust accounts for Britney that benefit her. He wanted the “the power to assert the Conservatee’s rights in any trust established for her benefit – should be added to the Proposed Order.”
Basically, Jamie didn’t want to have anyone telling him what to do with Britney’s money. He wanted to have full control over financial decisions. Jamie’s lawyer spoke about the motion in court, “There’s no intent or desire to create unequal power or decision-making as between the two, your honor. This is a way to make it consistent and to not take away powers that Mr. Spears as a conservator had.”
According to reports, the judge didn’t agree with Jamie or his lawyer. The judge is allowing the co-conservator to make financial decisions with Jamie. He ordered the two parties to work together and create a budget for Britney’s estate immediately.
Prior to the hearing, Britney’s boyfriend Sam Asghari spoke out against her father Jamie. The normally quiet fitness instructor/actor trashed Jamie on social media. He wrote, “Now it’s important for people to understand that I have zero respect for someone trying to control our relationship and constantly throwing obstacles our way.”
Britney’s man added, “In my opinion, Jamie is a total dick. I won’t be going into details because I’ve always respected our privacy but at the same time I didn’t come to this country to not be able to express my opinion and freedom.”
The fight continues.
