Olympic gymnast McKayla Maroney is bending over in her kitchen at night and delivering strict instructions at the same time. The 25-year-old former athlete and social media sensation, best known for her London 2012 Olympics “unimpressed” face, updated her Instagram on Hump Day with a little PSA doing some good. McKayla, followed by 1.3 million, slipped discreet updates onto her stories as she reminded fans to drink up, with the late-night kitchen action making for eye-catching content. Check it out below.
Scroll for the action. It comes as Maroney makes headlines for some pretty unusual and very food-centric workouts – frozen peas and an entire frozen bread loaf is the vibe on the gymnast’s TikTok.
Posting to her IG last night, McKayla kicked off by showing off her long red-painted nails from her car, then appearing home and solo for the simplest thing on earth. Maroney was grabbing a glass of water in her kitchen and delivering a stern reminder at the same time.
Seen inside her fluorescent-purple-lit kitchen with the mood lighting adding tons of atmosphere, Maroney leaned over the kitchen counter, seen in a dark red sweater, casual hair worn back, plus the piece de resistance – the big ‘old glass of ice water being held to the gymnast’s lips. Popping against attractive tulips and white flowers, the star wrote: “Drink ur water” with small heart emoji.
McKayla Maroney knows a thing or two about glugging, having mentioned her insane Diet Coke habit in the past.
Speaking to Byrdie in 2019, Maroney revealed that her actual diet while competing was anything but healthy, even admitting to guzzling way too much diet soda. “I would drink 24-ounce Cokes, and my parents weren’t really health freaks,” she told the magazine.
“But [my perspective] totally changed. When I couldn’t work out, I was feeling sick; my body kind of freaked out like, ‘We can’t lay in bed all day!’” Maroney added.
Now vegan and balanced, Maroney is Little Miss Health (and Little Miss Popular).
Maroney added that her philosophies are now more with the East than the West. “Now I’m a vegan and I’m into Pilates and yoga. I do this diet called Ayurveda,” she explained.
Fans, who don’t seem to care what McKayla eats, have been steadily commenting on the gymnast’s posts, and not always in a positive way. A recent Daisy Dukes snap had fans complaining, although little in the way of upset during McKayla’s recent and rather exposing wardrobe malfunction. Scroll if you missed that one.
