“Buffy” actress Charisma Carpenter is speaking out about the alleged abuse she suffered at the hands of Joss Whedon and showing support for actor Ray Fisher.
Earlier today, Charisma released a lengthy statement describing her time working with Joss on the set of “Buffy” and “Angel.” At the moment, Ray is still battling Warner Bros publicly after his own experience with Joss. He claims the director was “abusive” and awful on the set of 2017’s “Justice League.” An investigation was launched into the allegations but never went anywhere.

WarnerMedia decided to fire Ray from the forthcoming “The Flash.” Many felt that was retaliation for him speaking out against Joss. Jason Momoa and Gal Gadot have spoken out defending Ray and criticizing Joss.
Charisma is now coming out supporting Ray. She wrote, “For nearly two decades, I have held my tongue and even made excuses for certain events that traumatize me to this day.”
She added, “Joss Whedon abused his power on numerous occasions while working together on the sets of Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel. While he found his misconduct amusing, it only served to intensify my performance anxiety, disempower me, and alienate me from my peers. The disturbing incidents triggered a chronic physical condition from which I still suffer. It is with a beating, heavy heart that I say I coped in isolation, and, at times, destructively.”
The actress said it “gutted” her after seeing Ray’s accusations against Joss in 2017. She said, “Joss has a history of being casually cruel. He has created hostile and toxic work environments since his early career. I know because I experienced it first-hand. Repeatedly.”
She pointed to his alleged “ongoing, passive-aggressive threats to fire me, which wreaks havoc on a young actor’s self-esteem. And callously calling me “fat” to colleagues when I was 4 months pregnant, weighing 126 lbs. He was mean and biting.”
Charisma said after Joss found out she was pregnant he asked her is she was “going to keep it” and “manipulative weaponized my womanhood and faith against me.”
She said, “He proceed to attack my character, mock my religious beliefs, accuse me of sabotaging the show, and then unceremoniously fired me the following season once I have birth.”
During her pregnancy, the actress claims Joss forced her to report to work at 1 AM along with long hours. She felt the changes were in retaliation for being pregnant. At the time, Charisma said she felt “powerless” and without options.
She said she is speaking out now because she felt a sense of “responsibility to Ray and others for remaining private about my experience with Joss and the suffering it has caused me.”
Charisma said she spoke to WarnerMedia as part of the Justice League investigation. “Although I am not shocked, I am deeply pained by it … I can no longer remain silent. This is overdue and necessary.”
