In August, Cardi B scored another No. 1 record as this time, it was for her “WAP” single featuring Megan Thee Stallion. This debuted at the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and went on to go 3x platinum in the US.
The music video was also a huge viral sensation as it included cameos from Kylie Jenner, Mulatto, Normani, and more. It was also controversial to Republicans due to its highly sexual energy throughout the single by both Cardi and Megan.
Cardi Says She Didn’t Intend For ‘WAP’ To Come With Social Media Dances
On Monday night, Cardi had another open discussion with fans on Twitter. There, she denied creating “WAP” so it’d be another TikTok sensation like many other artists’ records are now. She also emphasized how creative she’s been in her music videos for a while now as well.
“Don’t try to play me like I just started this shit cause of tiktok .My last 4 videos I gave choreography & at award shows as well .Please me , press ,wap & up was my last videos. EAT IT UP !”
Cardi B Added That She Didn’t Start A ‘WAP Challenge’
Cardi also emphasized how she wasn’t the one who decided that people should make TikTok videos dancing to “WAP.” She also revealed that she didn’t even try to make a dance for it herself or ponder on the idea of a “challenge.”
“It wasn’t me who started the wap challenge.I didn’t even knew how to the dance that’s why I never did the challenge in the first place .How ya mad that these female rappers songs becoming tiktok challenges because people genuinely wants to dance to it.”
Cardi Released New ‘Up’ Single Last Week
A week ago, Cardi revealed that a new single would be on the way and that was part of the big announcement that she said was coming the day before. This is her “Up” record as it did in fact come out on February 5 and was met with instant love on social media.
The music video for it arrived at the same time and that received high praise as well for Cardi’s creativity as well as the other dancers in the video.
Fans Anticipate New Album From Cardi In 2021
With the massive amount of success that “WAP” and “Up” have been seeing over the last six months, many fans wonder when Cardi B’s sophomore album will finally be released.
As of now, she still hasn’t listed an official release date nor the title for the forthcoming project. Back in December, Cardi did tease the idea of flying fans out in February to hear the album. That gave the hint that the album was finished at the time but at this point, it may be safe to assume that Cardi is still putting the finishing touches on it.
