Betty White was a true friend to animals.

After Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans in 2005, Betty White wanted to help.

The Audubon Aquarium of the Americas lost 10,000 fish after generators failed.

After White learned that more animals were in danger of dying, she leapt into action.

She personally paid for a private plane to rescue 19 penguins and two sea otters.

However, she kept her donation a secret and it wasn’t discovered until years later.

Tom Dyer wrote about it in a Twitter thread shortly after White passed away.

“I’ve never posted socially about this, but what a Classy F---ing Dame,” he wrote.

Fans are asking for people to make a donation to an animal shelter or rescue for White’s birthday on January 17.
