It's difficult for fans of Fleetwood Mac to imagine what the group was like before Christine McVie and Stevie Nicks joined. These two powerful women had a massive impact on the music the band released and their success and fame.

With them as the vocalists, the group released some of their most successful songs, including the highly successful album, Rumors. Despite this, both women have left the group several times. They have come back for successful reunion tours, and it seems that fans of the band can never get enough of them and their music.

Nicks joined Fleetwood Mac And Befriended McVie

Before she became the vocalist of the then-upcoming Fleetwood Mac, Nicks worked as a waitress and cleaner to support her blossoming music dreams. She was also dating Lindsey Buckingham, and they moved to Los Angeles to fulfill their music dreams as a duo.

However, their plan didn't work out because their first album was a big flop and their record label dropped them. Eventually, Buckingham met Mick Fleetwood, who asked him to join the band. Buckingham's only caveat was that Nicks would join with him.

The band members were skeptical at first, but they accepted her into the group when McVie and Nicks bonded. The two women quickly became a force of nature, not just in their band but in the music industry. Even after breakups that shifted the band's dynamic, they stuck by each other and supported each other's progress in the industry.

Nicks once told Harper's Bazaar that she is grateful for having McVie in her life and referred to her as a "mentor, sister, and best friend."

McVie Said Another Band Tour Is Unlikely

In an interview with BBC that Rolling Stone reported, McVie reflected on the recent years with the band and admitted that it was highly uncertain that the band would go on any tours in the future.

She said, "If we do, it will be without John and without Stevie, I think. I think I'm getting a bit too old for it now, especially having had a year off. I don't know if I can get myself back into it again."

She also added that Fleetwood himself would undoubtedly love to go on another tour and said, "He would do it in a lightning strike but I couldn't possibly say. We're certainly not touring this year either."

Christine McVie Later Took Back Her Statements

Later on, McVie walked back on everything she previously said about not touring. She said, "I gave a cheeky answer indicating that the band might be 'done with that' or 'you just never know,' I always intended to convey that, particularly after the last year, we just don't know what the future holds."

McVie also explained that she hopes that going on another tour will be possible, but it isn't certain. She said, "In no way are any members of Fleetwood Mac 'done' with being part of the band. If anyone took that from my statement, that was a misperception and not intended.

Fleetwood Mac is part of the DNA of who I am, and I know the same is true for Stevie, Mick, and John," McVie continued, "As for future touring … Who knows. We continue to hope for the best."

McVie and Nicks Have Left Fleetwood Mac Before

If what McEvie said is right and she and Nicks don't reunite with the band for another tour, it wouldn't be the first time they've opted out of Fleetwood Mac, or even the second time.

The first time Nicks walked away was after the band's 1990 album Mask failed to perform up to expectations. She decided to focus on building her solo career, and after six years, she returned.

Two years after Nicks returned to the group, McEvie made her exit. In several statements after, she explained that she had been dealing with mounting anxiety over flying and, after much thought, decided she wasn't capable of going on tour with the band.

Sixteen years later, McEvie chose to rejoin the band, and they went on another tour together. With both women in the group, Fleetwood Mac was once again the powerful band it used to be.
