Celebrity "intimate" home videos have caused media storms the world over for years now. However, these types of celeb tapes weren't always popular get rich quick scheme. For both the seller and the people in the video. That all changed though in the 90s with what can be considered the first bombshell celebrity sex tape ever produced.

Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee were the first stars in a genre that would ultimately spawn celebs like Tila Tequila and even the entire Kardashian clan. The Pam & Tommy Series Seems To Be Rooted In Reality

A lot of movies and TV series that are branded as biopics essentially use the true story as source material, but ultimately what shows up on the screen is known to deviate quite a bit from how things really took place. This is an issue that gets brought up quite a bit in shows like The Crown, it was a major talking point in the Bohemian Rhapsody movie as well.

There are a ton of examples that we could list. In the case of Pam & Tommy, it seems that at least when it comes to the story about the tape the series is fairly rooted in fact. The preview shows how two gentlemen rob a safe from Tommy Lee's home and open it up to find the tape. In simple terms that is how the story is said to have taken place.

The man who would go on to steal and then distribute the infamous X-rated tape justified his actions years after the tape was leaked. He told Rolling Stone his version of the story.

Saying that he was a contractor who was hired and then stiffed by Tommy Lee. Who then kicked him off of his property at gunpoint. That's when Gauthier decided to rob him. Gauthier told the magazine in 2014,

“I was never really that popular with people, but I had never been held at gunpoint. It screwed with my head.”
