Demi Lovato is ranked among the world’s most popular music artists right now. Her accolades in the music industry need not be repeated as her reputation precedes her.
While her political activism (ridiculed as it has been in the past by some) has gained notable traction on social media with minorities and liberal groups, it is her music that has the media headlines rushing to cover what is quickly becoming a topic of excitement among her fans.
Yes indeed, the 28-year-old “Sorry Not Sorry” singer is releasing a new single with fellow music artist Sam Fischer!
Her new song is set to release Thursday, February 4th 2021, and will be called “What Other People Say”. It remains unclear exactly how this song will sound, but it isn’t an unreasonable expectation that the underlying tone and personality it carries will resemble that of her previous song “It’s Ok Not To Be OK”.
It would almost be uncharacteristic of Demi to release something that wasn’t promoting some kind of activist message, whether political or a means to bring awareness to a social issue, few artists are bold enough to release music like hers.
Fans Love It!
Although she faced some backlash from supposed fans on her account over her political posts, she appears to be receiving a much more positive response from her latest announcements related to her upcoming single. Here are just some of the comments left from her followers:
“ur a powerful goddess & I love u!!! let’s go!! ???” (Commentator) “I BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE, TURN IT UP” (Commentator) “Omg your outfit” (Commentator) “OMG YES I CANT WAIT” (Commentator)
Compared to the responses she received from critical viewers surrounding her political posts, fans have flooded her with waves of positive comments seeing her releasing new music… and no, it isn’t about a US President this time.
A Controversial Lady
Demi’s unabashed attitude towards criticism and controversy is actually one of the reasons that fans adore her, but some believe her career has actually been severely hampered due to her political biases.
Unwilling to give Conservatives fair representation on her social media, she has gone out of her way to badmouth pretty much anyone who would be considered “right-wing”. Not to mention her song “Commander In Chief” explicitly criticized former President Trump.
Thus, her fan base has been succinctly divided online, and there was no shortage of debates or arguments in the comments when she posted something highly polarizing politically.
Not Mincing Words
In case the reader thinks it an unfair statement to label the “Still Have Me” singer as liberal, CNN actually featured Demi on their show and, needless to say, she had no positive things to say about Trump:
“There’s been so many times that I’ve wanted to write the President a letter or sit down with him and ask him these questions,” she told CNN.
“And then I thought, I don’t really actually want to do that and I thought one way that I could do that is writing a song and releasing it for the whole world to hear and then he has to answer those questions to everyone and not just me.”
