The 51-year-old “Waiting For Tonight” singer (yes this goddess of a woman is 51!) rose to fame as a dancer in 1991 as a regular on the TV show “In Living Color” but she quickly made a name for herself as an actress in the 1997 biopic film “Selena” before going on to appear in numerous other films.
But there’s even more to this pop culture icon!
Although she certainly could have settled on acting or dancing considering her successful early career, she wanted to become a singer, and her debut album “On The 6” became a fabulous sensation on the music charts, praised by critics for its Latin Pop sound that was instrumental for the early 2000s contributing to the Latin “explosion” that was Jennifer and Ricky martin.
Almost ironically, Jennifer shared that she isn’t actually celebrating this album this week. She announced that she is celebrating the 20th anniversary of her second album titled “J.Lo”. She even recreated part of her music video from her hit song “Love Don’t Cost A Thing”.
Along with sharing her excitement over the anniversary of such a successful album (with at least 8 million album copies sold globally) Jennifer surprised her fans by hosting the previously mentioned live stream with Matthew.
The discussion was mainly about recent political events and for their desire to see “unity” between everyone. After a bit they started talking about less controversial subjects, inquiring about each other’s personal lives. Jennifer shared her enthusiasm to be celebrating 20 years since her second album debuted and Matthew echoed her excitement congratulating her.
Although the comments on the live stream were controversial when discussing the recent inauguration (since both Jennifer and Matthew are pro Democrat) The feedback from viewers became much more positive and supportive after hearing them discuss topics other than politics.
In a special message that Jennifer posted on her Instagram, she stated how happy she is to know that she has such a large group of supporters around the world.
“As I reflect on the fact that it’s the #JLo20thAnniversary, I just wanted to say thank you to all of you for being with me, loving me and supporting me through all the ups and downs. Thank you so much for all the love over the past 20 years!! I love you so much!! #MyLoveDontCostAThing #SameGirl”
Here are just some of the responses she got on that announcement post:
