Ryan Seacrest Pays Tribute To Larry King: I Lost My Mentor And A Dear Friend

Ryan Seacrest is paying tribute to his friend and mentor, Larry King after the legendary broadcaster died this morning following a battle with COVID-19.

The 'American Idol' host took to Instagram to show love to 'The Larry King Show' host who passed away early this morning while suffering from complications of the Coronavirus.

As we reported, King was hospitalized last month after testing positive for the virus and was placed in ICU while battling the disease. Unfortunately, it took a turn for the worst, and he succumbed to the virus early Saturday morning.

"I lost a dear friend and mentor. Truly an American treasure. Rest in peace, Larry King," Seacrest posted, alongside a picture of the host on the set of his famous talk show.

In the photo, King is sporting his legendary suspenders and preparing to interview famous and important people. Seacrest worked alongside King on several occasions, but after retiring from his show, Larry listed Ryan as the top recruit to take over his show.

"I can’t be objective because I don’t know his feelings, his interest in politics, but Ryan Seacrest ... he is curious. He is interesting. He is likable,” King said. Adding, "If he has a great interest in politics, I would recommend him."

Seacrest considered doing the job, telling Forbes, "What [King] does is a radio show on television with newsmakers. It's a great show and a format that's comfortable."

According to reports, King died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center early Saturday morning. The broadcaster was diagnosed with COVID-19 over the holidays and was placed in ICU. Larry was later moved into a regular hospital room and was breathing on his own.

Larry suffered from several pre-existing conditions including suffering from several heart attacks and beat prostate and lung cancer.

As we reported, Larry has had a tough past few months after losing two of his children. In July, Larry's son Andy unexpectedly passed away from a heart attack, while his daughter died just a few weeks earlier from lung cancer.

Larry King was one of the most successful media personalities in Hollywood -- who published over 20 books and wrote for USA Today for decades. The 'Larry King Show' was one of the most popular programs on CNN, and he continued to broadcast online will into his 80's.
