Ariana Grande is easily one of the most underrated artists to emerge in the early to mid 2010s. Early in her acting career, her managers didn’t really have much faith that she could produce successful music at the age of 14, but that didn’t stop her from pursuing her musical talents!
She joined the Broadway musical “13” in 2008 and sang at the New York City jazz club named “Birdland” on several occasions that same year. After the Nickelodeon TV show “Victorious” aired its final season in 2013, (originally premiering in 2009 for a total of 4 years) the red-headed TV icon had a breakout career moment.
'Position' For Success!
In August 2013 Ariana released her first studio album titled “Yours Truly” which featured the massively popular single “The Way”. Although not her first song to go viral, it made it to the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100 and acquired media attention. Critics who heard her song compared her vocal capabilities to Mariah Carey, praising her range and register.
Today, at 27-years-old, Ariana is at the top of her game. She just posted pictures on her Instagram Stories that her album “Positions” and her song “34+35” were both certified Platinum as of January 18, 2021!
Platinum Lady
Along with scoring a major win as an artist, Grande shared that she had also been working on a remix of her aforementioned single “34+35”, which upon release would feature two other popular artists, namely Doja Cat and Megan Thee Stallion.
Fans didn’t have to wait long either, as the remix was officially released last week showing off previews of the video and epic artwork with each of them wearing the outfits from Grande’s music video. Fans were stoked to see such talented artists collaborate on the song, especially now that the release went Platinum!
Fans React!
Here are just a few of the numerous comments that Ariana has received on her release post for the aforementioned remix!
“the trio i knew i needed” (Commentator) “you guys snapped so hard holy” (Commentator) “streaming this song forever! i’m so happy we finally get something new we’re so spoiled pls” (Commentator) “it’s been on repeat all day !” (Commentator) “never getting over “i want that 69 without tekashi”” (Commentator) “the way megan ate so hard but y’all ain’t ready for that convo” (Commentator)
Changes In The Industry
Although Ariana’s career has been massively successful over the last several years especially, she explained how she did feel that there existed some kind of sexism within the entertainment industry due to various women, including herself, being labeled a “diva”:
“I stopped doing interviews for a really long time because I felt like whenever I would get into a position where somebody would try to say something for clickbait or twist my words or blah, blah, blah, I would defend myself. And then, people would be like, 'Oh, she's a diva.' I was like, 'This doesn't make any sense.' Because I have an opinion about something that was an opinion artistically or if I am directing something, or if I have something to say regarding a choice that's being made with my career or something, blah, blah, blah, it always was in the past manipulated and turned into this negative thing, whereas I don't see that with men."
