Mindy Kaling Trolled Because Daughter Confused Her With Kamala Harris
“The Office” star Mindy Kaling is an ardent Biden-Harris supporter and has found common ground with Kamala Harris considering both of them are Indian-Americans. Kaling may have been born and brought up in the States but both her parents hailed from different parts of India before they moved to the US to begin a new life.
To celebrate the Biden-Harris win as well as the inauguration, Kaling shared something rather sweet that her little daughter, Katherine said. While some of her fans found it sweet, others found it a tad cloying, and the trolls got busy!
Kaling Is Pals With Kamala
While most of America and the rest of the world was watching the results pour in with mixed reaction, Kaling went up and put up a hopeful sweatshirt pic, at the back of which were the names of famous and venerated female activists of African-American origin. The last name on it was Kamala, and it drew both the respect and ire of Kaling’s Instagram followers.
While some felt she was doing a good thing, others felt that she was in truth diminishing the work by the likes of Barbara Jordan and Harriet Tubman as well as the others.
Kaling does not care though…
Daughter Katherine A Kamala Fan Too?
Mindy Kaling has a little daughter, Katherine, who she often calls Kit or Kittles, and whom she keeps very protected, away from the prying eyes of media.
Still, she got her and her daughter mired in a bit of controversy when she put up a picture of Kamala Harris and captioned it, “Crying and holding my daughter, “look baby, she looks like us.””
Trolls burst forth in abundance. Some called Kaling’s daughter “white” while others berated her for looking at skin color while voting.
But Kaling and Harris had a plan…
Is That Mommy?
So apparently little Katherine is quite an advanced TV viewer and watched the inaugural ceremony. Kaling posted a picture of her daughter, back to camera, with the caption, “I was at work, but apparently she said: “Is that mommy? It looks like mommy.” Best compliment I ever got! It matters. Happy Inauguration everyone.”
Mariah Carey and Taraji P. Henson were down for the comment, and one of her friends also commented, “Yesss Min! We are crying here in Cambridge out of happiness! Also, I will happily vote for you in like twenty years”.
Really Though, Mindy?
Not everyone was on the same page as Kaling, as one troll wrote, “She doesn’t know what you look like???” while others called it all “lies”.
But the clamor of the fans was far larger than the trolls, as one woman wrote Kaling a rather heartfelt comment, “Tears running down my face. What a beautiful day for women everywhere. I can’t wait to tell my pandemic baby all the incredible things that also happened the year she was born. Madame Vice President. Remarkable. ?????”!
