Merry Christmas to my baby girl in heaven. I can’t call you, I can’t hear your voice, and I can’t hug you. What I can do is say we love and miss you. Damn, today is a hard day, but we will get through this together. #neverthesame #MerryChristmas #GABBYPETITO pic.twitter.com/Nb09hR3KFk

Many of Gabby’s fans and supporters commented on Joe’s post expressing their condolences, and even telling stories of loved ones they lost.
On woman posted a photo of herself at the Gabby Petito park bench covered in multi-colored butterflies. She wrote, “Merry Christmas in heaven Gabby! I went to wish you a Merry Christmas.”
Another woman replied, “Merry Christmas! We lost our 15 year old son and if it wasn’t for our other 3 children, we wouldn’t celebrate at all… all you can do is make new memories in Gabby’s memory. A friend that also lost her son on Christmas eve now gives out foot and toiletry bags to the homeless.”
“It’s so. Hard today I miss my 22 year old too! Just remember she is with you always,” wrote another heartbroken parent.
On New Year’s Eve, Joe and his family lit up lanterns and sent them into the sky. He captioned the video, “Happy New year Gabby. Keep touching the world. #HAPPYNEWYEAR2022 #gabbypetito.”
