Katie Holmes Reveals Blossoming Artistic Skills In New Painting

Katie Holmes is revealing just what a multi-faceted artist she is after giving a sneak peek into one of her personal passions. The ex-wife of Tom Cruise took to Instagram on Tuesday and shared a photo of her latest creation, which appears to have been inspired by a beautiful flower. Not many people know about Katie Holmes' secret passion for painting, even though the former "Party of Five" star has been subtly hiding her hobby in plain sight over the years.

Although Katie Holmes has not super public about her affinity for art, the actress has shown signs of being a diehard painter while being seen with paint-spotted clothes over the years.
According to InStyle, Holmes has worn sweatpants splattered with paint multiple times while out and about, and now we know for sure she has been painting for years.
"I have been painting for about ten years now. And definitely more during Covid," Holmes captioned her latest creation to fans.

While debuting her masterpiece, Katie Holmes explained, " I wanted to share a piece that I am proud of and even though I believe art is much better experienced in person, I understand that we are living in a digital age for now."
She added, "This piece is something that makes me feel hopeful and I hope it transcends."
The name of the piece is "Peony 2021," and perhaps is inspired by the beautiful blossoming flower. Holmes also explained that the media used was dye on canvas.

It makes sense that Katie Holmes has picked up painting over the years, as the star spent many years of her life out of the public eye while dealing with the fallout of her marriage to "Mission Impossible" star Tom Cruise. In an interview with Harper's Bazaar from last year, Holmes touched on that period of her life and where she sees herself so many years later.
"Obviously, as a public person, I've gotten a lot of attention at different periods in my life."

Katie Holmes continued:
[When] you have a lot of attention, sometimes you don't want to leave the house because it's just too much. You can get consumed by what people think, but suddenly you just decide to do things on your own terms."
She further told Harpers Bazaar, "I feel like I'm finally figuring that out. I'm getting the projects I want made and just relaxing a little. I've been around for a long time, and I'm still here! I can't believe it."
