Production on the upcoming 13th season of “The Real Housewives of New York City” has been shut down for a second time.
Months into production on the new episodes, Page Six has confirmed that the Bravo reality series is no longer filming after one of it’s cast members tested positive for COVID-19.
Although the cast member’s name was not disclosed, the outlet revealed that they are experiencing only mid symptoms as they remain in quarantine in hopes of returning to production soon.
The ‘RHONY’ Cast Was Headed To Upstate New York Before The Shutdown
According to the outlet, the ladies of the “Real Housewives of New York City” cast, including Ramona Singer, Sonja Morgan, Luann de Lesseps, Leah McSweeney, and Eboni K. Williams, were expected to wrap up production on season 13 before being suddenly shut down ahead of their end-of-the-season trip to Upstate New York.
“The trip was canceled as part of the network’s strict safety protocols for cast and crew during COVID,” an insider shared with Page Six.
The outlet went on to say that the series was halted out of an abundance of caution.
‘RHONY’ Season 13 Filming Was First Halted In Octoebr 2020
The insider went on to reveal that “The Real Housewives of New York City” are proud to be “setting a good example” of how to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
As fans of the reality show may recall, Ramona announced in July that she’d tested positive for the coronavirus and months later, in October 2020, she and her cast mates were faced with their first shutdown after someone on set tested positive.
According to a second report, the ladies of the set are said to be “stressed” about their second halt on filming.
Filming On ‘RHONY’ Season 13 Is Nearly Complete
“It has caused the rest of the cast to become stressed over this,” an insider explained to Us Weekly magazine last week.
“Production shut down and now everyone is on standstill until the person who has COVID quarantines and then tests negative. Everything is on hold, including the trip they were supposed to take to Upstate New York,” the source added.
Although everything is expected to get back to normal soon in terms or production, it was noted that the ladies of the show were “basically done filming” before learning that someone had tested positive.
Eboni K. Williams Is Not Replacing Dorinda Medley On ‘RHONY’
“Someone tested positive and production had to stop immediately,” the insider explained to Us Weekly magazine.
The source went on to reveal that while people from the series have come and gone, no one can truly replace someone. So, when it comes to Eboni’s addition, she’s starring in her own role, not filling the shoes of former cast member Dorinda Medley.
“No [one] can replace anybody on the Housewives — no matter who [is] new [that] enters. Nobody can replace anybody, period. Anyone who is new brings something different to the table. It’ll be the best season ever,” the insider added.
