Music lovers, prepare to hear some news you definitely don’t want to hear this new year.

It’s looking more than likely that the 2022 Grammy Awards ceremony will be postponed due to the Omicron variant of COVID-19.

Billboard reported the news on Monday, January 3.

The 64th annual Grammy Awards are set to take place on January 31 at Crypto.com arena in Los Angeles, CA; however, that date isn’t looking so likely.

A source with direct knowledge told Billboard “it’s likely” to be postponed.

If the award show is in fact postponed, this will mark the second year in a row the coveted music ceremony will have been postponed.

The reason for postponing and rescheduling was due to a spike in COVID cases in the city.

Last year the show was originally set for January 31, but on January 5, it was announced the show had been rescheduled to March 14.

The Recording Academy has yet to confirm the report and have not yet announced a potential new date.
