The comments are in reference to the federal lawsuit filed against Erika and her estranged husband Thomas Girardi. In the suit, the plaintiffs claim Thomas diverted millions owed to his clients and used the money to fund his “lavish lifestyle” with Erika.
The suit tore into the two describing them as people who would do anything to maintain their public persona. It read, “At the heart of this deception is Defendant Girardi and his need to fund outrageous lifestyles for himself and his soon-to-be ex-wife, Erika Jayne (“Erika” or “Jayne”). Tom and Erika have reached celebrity status in the glitz-and-glam world of Hollywood and Beverly Hills.”
The lawyers added, “Tom is a well-known and powerful personal injury attorney. Erika is a performer who is perhaps better known for her years-long presence on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, a show centered on the larger-than-life extravagances of its cast members. To keep up their celebrity status, Tom and Erika must project a public image of obscene wealth at all times, and at whatever the cost.”
Earlier this year, Erika filed for divorce from Thomas after 21 years of marriage. She is asking the court to award her spousal support
Since the divorce was filed, Thomas has been hit with countless lawsuits accusing him of owing millions. His creditors, including his former law partner, filed an involuntary Chapter 7 bankruptcy petition in court.
The judge presiding over the case approved the case and appointed a trustee to manage Thomas’s finances. Erika’s estranged husband has not filed a response to the bankruptcy. The trustee will now move forward with figuring out the best way to pay back the creditors. They will have the power to receive all income owed to Thomas and seize any assets they believe are valuable. The proceeds will be used to pay back a portion of the money owed by Thomas.
