Nicki Minaj Pays $450,000 To Settle Tracy Chapman Lawsuit

Back in 2019, Tracy sued Nicki accusing her of copyright infringement. She said the rapper used a sample of her song “Baby Can I Hold You” on a track with Nas titled “Sorry.”

In the suit, Tracy said Nicki never obtained permission to use the song or paid a dime to license it.

Nicki fired back denying all allegations of wrongdoing. She wanted the case to be tossed out of court. Nicki did admit she tried to get Tracy to clear the song but was denied.

As The Blast previously reported, Nicki is also facing heat over her husband Kenneth Petty's rape accuser speaking out in a new video. Last month, the woman posted a video on Instagram in which she accused Nicki and her husband of harassing her.

In the clip, the woman said, "For Nicki Minaj and Kenneth Petty, tell your people to leave my family alone. Okay. Don't call my fu-king family, don't call my brothers, don't call anybody. Leave me and my family the fu-k alone."

Back in 1995, Kenneth was convicted of first-degree attempted rape when he was 16. The alleged victim was also reportedly 16-years-old. In official documents, prosecutors accused Kenneth of using a sharp object to force the girl to have sex with him. Kenneth was sentenced to 4 years in prison. Nicki and Kenneth have yet to respond to the video.

Last year, Kenneth was arrested for failing to register as a sex offender when he moved from New York to California. The move was to be closer to his then-girlfriend Nicki. The criminal case is still pending.
