The Commander has left the White House... and headed to the beach!

President Joe Biden shared the adorable snap on Twitter on Sunday afternoon, showing Commander walking along beside the waves.

“Commander enjoyed his first trip to the beach,” wrote the current President of the United States.

The Blast first reported that there was a new Commander in the White House on December 20, 2021. A spokesperson for First Lady JillBiden confirmed the new member of the Biden family after the new puppy was spotted playing on the South Lawn of the White House.

Given the Biden’s penchant for German Shepherds, many assume that Commander is a German Shepheard breed. The new puppy, named Commander, was an early Christmas president to the President from the rest of his family.

Twitter Responds… How You Would Expect Twitter To Respond

While several fans thought that the new puppy was adorable, most of the comments turned political in nature.

“Not golfing or spreading misinformation and hate. Just walking his dog,” a person wrote.

“That dog has better healthcare than ¾ of Americans,” another person commented.

“How about you try working a full week and focus on your country?!” another asked. “Or is that not part of the agenda?” To which another replied, “He went to the beach for a day, calm down.”

“You are walking on the beach by yourself with a freaking mask on COMON MAN,” another wrote, noticing how Biden is wearing a mask in the photo despite the lack of people around.

“Didn’t go on a road trip cause gas prices too high,” another wrote.

“Cute!” a person named Denise wrote. “But where is the White House kitten we were promised?” Another person commented, “Denise we’re trying to cancel student loans, focus.”

Wait… What About A Cat In The White House?

In April, First Lady Jill Biden revealed that they had a cat “waiting in the wings.” The cat is reportedly being fostered until they can figure out the best time to move it into the White House.

It is not clear when the cat will officially move into the White House, but “it is expected to be in the very near future,” according to CNN.

Biden also had two German Shepherd dogs when he first moved into the White House. In June 2021, Champ passed away at the old age of 13. Champ had been with their family since 2008.

“Our hearts are heavy today as we let you all know that our beloved German Shepherd, Champ, passed away peacefully at home,” Biden said in a statement. “He was our constant, cherished companion during the last 13 years and was adored by the entire Biden family.”

Biden also has another German Shepherd rescue named Major, who is currently living in Wilmington, Delaware. In March 2021, then three-year-old Major bit two people: a member of the Secret Service and a National Park Service worker.

A few weeks later, the President announced that Major was going to be sent back to Wilmington for “extensive training” to help him adjust to life inside the White House.
