Dr. Tiffany Moon will be making her debut as the first Asian housewife of the “Real Housewives” franchise on tonight’s season five premiere of “The Real Housewives of Dallas” and before doing so, she’s speaking to E! News about the shocking video her co-star Brandi Redmond made of herself mocking Asians years ago.
Over a year after the offensive clip surfaced on social media of Brandi squinting her eyes and talking with an Asian accent, Tiffany is explaining why she wanted to confront the situation head-on during season five.
Dr. Tiffany Moon Doesn’t Think Brandi Redmond Meant Any Harm
“That video came out after the last season had finished,” Tiffany explained to the outlet, noting that it had nothing to do with her.
“But I felt responsible to address Brandi for it because I think when she did it, she didn’t mean any harm and she didn’t know how her words and actions could be interpreted by many people such as myself as hurtful or bringing back memories of being called certain names and told that I have slanty eyes and things like that,” she continued.
Dr. Tiffany Moon Had A Heart-To-Heart With Brandi Redmond
After joining “The Real Housewives of Dallas” last year, Tiffany arranged to have a sit-down with Brandi to discuss the matter and educate her co-star on the topic.
“I wanted to address her personally. We did it just she and I because I wanted her to know even though sometimes you don’t mean harm with your actions and words, that they can be hurtful,” Tiffany stated.
Following the scandal, Brandi apologized for the 2017 video and checked herself into a wellness center.
Dr. Tiffany Moon Believes She And Brandi Redmond’s Conversation Was Helpful
When Tiffany was asked if she believes her conversation with Brandi had helped them grow closer to one another, the doctor said it did “in some ways.”
“Probably not at the beginning because we kinda had to let the dust settle,” she admitted. “It was such an emotionally charged conversation. For me, it brought back so many memories of being picked on when I was little and for her because she was so sorry and she didn’t know the extent to which her words could hurt people.”
Dr. Tiffany Moon And Brandi Redmond Are Friends
While it took a while for Tiffany and Brandi to move forward following their chat about Brandi’s offensive video, Tiffany told E! News that after the dust settled on their conversation, they were able to form a friendship.
“After we let the dust settle from that conversation I think then we were able to sort of move our friendship forward,” she shared.
