Los Angeles saw the highest number of daily COVID-19 cases in the entire pandemic.

On Friday, LA reported 27,091 positive COVID-19 cases.

The previous record was set on January 4, 2021 with 21,848 cases.

20,198 infections were recorded on Thursday.

That means daily total increased about 35% in one day.

On Monday, 850 people were hospitalized due to COVID-19.

On Friday, that number increased to 1,464 people.

Only 12 people passed away on Friday.

However, that brings the cumulative total deaths up to 27,637.
