Earlier this month, Lil Wayne pleaded guilty to charges on the table for his 2019 federal firearm case. This was an incident where a loaded gold-plated Remington 1911, .45-caliber handgun loaded with six rounds of ammunition.
The firearm was located inside a private jet that Wayne was on at Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport. A bag was also found on the plane which contained cocaine, ecstasy, and oxycodone. Authorities originally said that Wayne was cleared at that moment but that ended up being far from the truth.
Wayne’s Sentencing Date Is March 3
The charge that Wayne pleaded guilty to is one count of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. This could give Wayne a maximum of 10 years in prison.
According to HotNewHipHop.com, the official sentencing date has been set as well. Wayne’s lawyer, Howard Srebnick, originally requested for expedited sentencing. That would take place on January 28. He then wanted more time to work on this case and so, the final sentencing date will be on March 3. This was confirmed by U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams.
Wayne Was Convicted In Firearms Case In New York In 2009
This isn’t Wayne‘s first rodeo at all when it comes to being in trouble by the law regarding guns. Back in 2009, he was convicted for a felony gun charge in New York and served a year in prison. The original incident was due to a 40 caliber handgun being found on Wayne’s tour bus in 2007.
As many know, the state of New York is very strict when it comes to firearm possession, especially when it comes to them not being registered.
Wayne Questioned Why He Hasn’t Been Getting Grammy Invites
Lil Wayne also recently took to Twitter to voice his displeasure of why he hasn’t been invited to the GRAMMYs lately or even been asked to be involved in the awards show.
“As an artist, when I see da Grammys coming up & I’m not involved nor invited; I wonder. Is it me , my musik, or just another technicality? I look around w respect & wonder competitively am I not worthy?! Then I look around & see 5 Grammys looking bak at me & I go to the studio.”
