After getting her start in the “Star Wars” sequel franchise, Daisy Ridley quickly became a household name, going on to star in films like “Ophelia” and “Murder on the Orient Express.”

Although she often displays a fun-loving, quirky sense of humors in interviews and interactions with fans, several cast members of her newest role, “Chaos Walking” have labeled her “aggressive” and “intimidating” to work with.

In the film “Chaos Walking,” Ridley, 28, stars alongside “Spider-Man: Homecoming” actor Tom Holland in a dystopian world where all living creatures can hear each other’s thoughts in a stream of images, words, and sounds called “Noise.”

In this New World, all women have supposedly been killed off by a germ, and the Noise affects only the remaining men. Holland’s character Todd finds silence in a nearby swamp, and traces it back to its source: Viola, who is played by Ridley. He vows to protect her, and together they set off to uncover the planet’s dark secrets.

Speaking with the British magazine “Tatler,” the London-born actress revealed that she was called intimidating on set.

“I’ve been told that I’m intimidating,” she revealed. “That was on ‘Chaos Walking.’ I was having my hair done, having my wig put on. I remember thinking, ‘God, should I be smaller? Should I be quieter?’”

She didn’t reveal if the comment came from a director or another member of the cast.

Aggressive Behavior

Ridley also shared that she has been called aggressive by a director, but it’s unclear if she’s referring to “Chaos Walking” director Doug Liman.

“I’ve been called aggressive, too,” she shared. “My energy is ‘quite aggressive. That was during a meeting with a director. I was thinking: ‘But why? Is it because I maintained eye contact? Is it because I’m passionate about what we’re talking about?’ I dunno.”

She continued, “You have that horrible sinking feeling of, ‘God, do I not come across the way I think I do’?”

Personal Life

Like many of her “Star Wars” co-stars, Ridley likes to keep a low profile, but she admitted that she was unprepared for the amount of attention she would receive in the spotlight.

“When I signed on to ‘Star Wars,’ there was nothing in my contract that said: ‘Your life will be talked about,” Ridley continued. “It got to the point where I realized so much of my life was out there. People knew my mum’s name, my dad’s name, what my sisters do for a living. And I thought it would be nice to have something that’s for me, that isn’t for everybody else. I just thought I would keep that separate.”

“Chaos Walking” is set for release on March 5, 2021.
