A petition seeking justice for Eko has reached its goal.

Eko is an 8-year-old Malayan tiger that is critically endangered.

On Wednesday, a third-party cleaning service worker climbed over a 4.5 foot fence.

He entered an unauthorized area and tried to pet the tiger, only to be bitten.

Deputies shot the tiger to free the man, and Eko passed away.

A Change.org petition had surpassed its goal of 5,000 signatures on Friday morning.

Many residents supported the petition, with one saying, “Prosecute the man to the fullest.”

Many said that the man should be forced to pay for the cost of breeding a new tiger.

A New Jersey resident wrote, “Next time shoot the idiot, not the animal!”
