Inside Carrie Fisher And Harrison Ford’s Shocking On-Set Romance
In the “Star Wars” trilogy, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford were involved in a 3-month-long affair. The relationship was kept secret from everyone, including co-star Mark Hamill who only found out about it when filming ended.
At the time of the relationship, Fisher was only 19-years-old, and Ford was 33. The relationship came to light when Fisher released her memoir titled “The Princess Diarist” post humor.
In the memoir, the actress wrote that the secret affair made her feel she won a “Man Lottery,” as looking at Ford’s handsome face made her feel like he was God.
A Young Girl’s Diary
The “When Harry Met Sally” actress recalled that she could easily charm everyone with her amiable personality, but Ford was different, so instead of talking to him, she confided in her diaries that she began writing when she was 12-years-old.
After three months in the relationship, Fisher concluded that Ford would not leave his wife to be with her, so she shut it down.
After filming for the “Star Wars” ended and the actors returned home, George Lucas’s wife Marcia apprised Hamil of his co-stars’ affair.
Ignorance Can Be Bliss
In an interview with The Guardian, Hamil shared that he was glad to have been oblivious of the affair as it probably would have affected him.
Nevertheless, he continued that he thought the whole situation was hilarious. He later found out and added that it was men’s nature to seek affections even if no relationship was in the cards.
Marcia, who told Hamil about the relationship, was also an editor on the original movie, so she might have calculated that telling the actor the news might have affected his acting.
Keeping It professional
It turned out that Hamil had intimate feelings for Fisher but chose not to pursue it and kept their relationship professional as he understood that it was not a good idea to get involved with someone while on set.
The actor recalled the moments spent with Fisher and reconvened a discussion where he and Fisher discussed kissing techniques.
He shared that he confidently claimed to be a good kisser as he told Fisher that he liked his women coming on to him, and before the end of the discussion, he and Fisher were having a kissing session.
A Love Triangle
After the kissing session, the co-stars never explored further, settling for a one-time as they believed that they “got it out of their system.”
Hamil later revealed that he did not pursue the relationship because he thought Fisher was too much of a handful for him. He shared that an association with her would be a full-time job as she was exceptional in every way, creative, smart, and beautiful.
In her Diary, Fisher wrote that the man she fell in love with should have been Hamil and not Ford, who was already married.
Carrie Fisher’s memoir also revealed a shocking truth about her liaison with Harrison Fraud.
