Halsey is urging the judge overseeing her civil harassment restraining order case to issue a permanent protective order against her alleged stalker.
In Halsey’s new legal declaration, obtained by The Blast, the singer says she can and will testify competently if called as a witness at her hearing to gain a permanent restraining order against her alleged stalker.
Halsey says she is extremely grateful for and humbled by the success she has achieved as a singer-songwriter, her alleged stalker’s repeated and continuous attempts to harass her at her home along with threats of violence are seriously alarming and distressing.
The singer understands that her alleged stalker is currently in federal custody on assault charges, and has previously been convicted and sentenced to jail for stalking, and she must “urge this Court to issue a restraining order for my protection so that Respondent is ordered to stay away from me, my home and my workplaces if and when he is released from custody”.
In several celebrity and high-profile restraining order cases, the celebs often submit personal declarations detailing the incident(s) and their declaration can be used as their official testimony for their permanent restraining order hearing. If the celebs can help it, they typically would rather not face their alleged stalkers in court for their own protection.
Some judges demand in-person testimony from the person requesting a permanent restraining order, regardless of their celebrity status. Halsey has submitted her declaration in support of the petition for a civil harassment restraining order, and she says she is aware that her alleged stalker has appeared at or near her residence on 4 to 5 occasions from September to October of this year in an effort to contact her.
Halsey says she aware that he has left a notebook with handwritten statements about her and/or directed to her, some of which include threats of violence. For example, the alleged stalker wrote in the notebook, “I’ll kill everyone in THIS CITY for you. Do you understand?”
She says she also knows that he has posted messages on social media that contain threats of violence, such as “This is my country, bitch…WILL BEAT YO ASS…”. The singer claims she is not personally acquainted with the alleged stalker and to her knowledge, she has never met, spoken with, or otherwise communicated with him in any manner. She has never invited him to her residence or any of her workplaces.
She also says she has never worked with him, nor has he been engaged to provide any services to her. Halsey is unaware of whether he has attended any live performances or other personal appearances that would be accessible to members of the public. Halsey says she is “absolutely certain that he has not been invited to my home or workplaces, and he would have no legitimate purpose for being at such locations”.
We broke the story, a Los Angeles judge granted the singer a temporary restraining order against her alleged stalker who was ordered to stay 100 yards away from Halsey, her home and “any venue she is performing or rehearsing at”. On one occasion, the situation with her alleged stalker got so bad that she claims that he became agitated after speaking to one of Halsey’s neighbors, and smashed a guitar as he left the area. The alleged stalker believes he has a relationship with the singer and he has attempted to locate her several times.
Surprisingly, even after Halsey has been experienced some emotional trauma by her alleged stalker, she has shown support for this individual by stating in her declaration, “I hope that Respondent can get the help he needs to deal with his personal and/or psychological issues.” The hearing to determine whether or not Halsey will have a permanent restraining order against her alleged stalker is scheduled for next week.
