Ryan Seacrest is making necks snap from from all the double-takes. The 45-year-old “American Idol” host just shocked his Instagram followers with a holiday throwback that’s now seeing half the platform assume the photo was of “Bourne” actor Matt Damon. Shortly before the weekend, the “Live! With Kelly and Ryan” star updated with a super old-school snap likely not showing him much older than 18. Ryan was going for the festive feel with the home Christmas scene, but Instagram has other thoughts. Check it out.
Scroll for the photo. It comes as Ryan makes headlines galore for joining “Live! co-host, 50-year-old Kelly Ripa for the syndicated talk show’s massively festive episodes – Ryan joined Kelly in her “Ugly Christmas” sweater showoff last week.
The photo showed Ryan solo, sitting in a living room, and surrounded by boxed Christmas gifts. The “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” producer was looking super-youthful and pretty ordinary, wearing regular jeans and a “Star 94” Atlanta t-shirt as he just about smiled.
The caption was all about Christmas as Seacrest wrote: “Only 8 more sleeps until Christmas…#tbt.”
Instagram has mega thoughts. Leading the way is former “All My Children” actress Kelly Ripa, who actually thought it was her 23-year-old son Michael Consuelos, writing: “I thought you were Michael” with a cry-face emoji.
That wasn’t the main consensus, though. 50-year-old actor Matt Damon is all over the comments. “I thought he was Matt Damon lol,” one fan wrote, with a quick reply reading: “I thought the same thing.”
Ryan’s fans notice everything. “LOVING the wicker furniture, so hot right now,” one wrote. Others, though, had picked up on Kelly’s comment and were agreeing that he’s the spit of her eldest son.
Ryan’s 2020 likely isn’t one he’ll forget. For starters, he made major headlines in the fall for awaiting the results of a COVID test and taking the day off “Live!” while not knowing what awaited him. When the results came back negative, he thanked Kelly for holding down the fort, also saying it felt “good” to see the no-COVID reading.
Talk for “Live!” fans was heated last week after Ryan was absent from the show he’s starred on since 2017 for four days straight. Kelly was joined by Bravo face Andy Cohen on Monday and Tuesday, then by CNN face Anderson Cooper for the next two days.
Ryan more than made up for his absence on Friday, though, with one super-festive jumpers showoff bringing tons of Xmas spirit to “Live!” and the show writing: “Kelly and Ryan’s sweaters (with their faces on them) from @ugly.christmas.”
