In a surprising twist, Curtis revealed that she is not a fan of horror films and is actually quite terrified of them. She also shared on the films she has done that were failures and regrets being a part of.
One movie, in particular, stood out, and many fans would agree with Curtis’ negative assessment of the film. Here is all the star actress had to say about this particular film and her fear of horror movies.
Curtis Regretted That She Starred In ‘Virus’
In 1999, Curtis starred as Kit Foster in the sci-fi and horror movie “Virus” directed by John Bruno and featured Donald Sutherland and William Baldwin. The movie revolved around an American crew who comes across a Russian communications vessel that has been taken over by aliens and is forced to fight the aliens or die.
“Virus” was an immediate failure at the box office and was heavily criticized by viewers and critics. It also has an abysmal rating of 12% on Rotten Tomatoes and 19% on Meta Critic. Curtis herself is one of the most prominent critics of the film and is very vocal about her regret for being a part of it.
In an interview with IGN, Curtis said, “Rob Reiner for his 40th birthday had a bad show business party where everybody brought show business clips… Rob’s was playing a hippie on Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. singing ‘Blowin’ in the Wind…’ Virus is so bad that it’s shocking.”
Curtis Shared Her Experience In The Film
In another interview with WENN, Express reported that Curtis shared more about her experience making Virus and why she thinks it’s her worst movie. She said, “That’s a piece of s*** movie. It’s an unbelievably bad movie, just bad from the bottom.”
“There’s a scene where I’m running away from this alien and I actually hide under the stairs.”
Curtis explained more about the scene and said, “I come down some stairs and then duck up underneath them and I’m quivering and this big thing comes down the stairs and I’m freaking hiding under the stairs! This is something that can open walls of steel and I’m hiding under stairs!”

However, the “Halloween” star shared one benefit from being part of the film. She said, “That’s the only good reason to be in bad movies. Then when your friends have [bad] movies you can say ‘Ahhhh, I’ve got the best one. I’m bringing Virus.”
Curtis Also Regrets ‘Halloween H20’
Curtis rose to fame with the first “Halloween” movies, and 20 years after she left the franchise, she returned to the film “Halloween H20.” This film was a commercial hit and garnered many positive reviews from viewers and critics. However, Curtis was less than happy about the film and her participation.
She later revealed that one reason was that the original director and producer John Carpenter and Debra Hill weren’t part of the movie’s crew. She shared that she had a conversation with Carpenter and Hill when “Halloween” was 19 years old and pitched the idea of revisiting the franchise.
However, the two turned out to be too busy, and Curtis was the only original cast who was part of H20. She told Entertainment Weekly, “Now, to this day, I regret that I didn’t say to everyone, ‘If Debra Hill’s not the one producing this movie, I’m not doing it.’ But what ended up happening was, she wasn’t part of it, John wasn’t part of it, and I was still part of it, and it was a machine going down the road.”
Curtis Is Scared Of Horror Movies
Curtis may be known as the ultimate scream queen, but she is far from it in reality. This iconic heroine who took down the infamous Michael Myers actually admitted that she can’t handle movies that incite and exploit fear, basically horror movies.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, she explained her fear and said, “I’m brave, but I am afraid of scary things. When I was 15, my parents screened The Exorcist, and my friends teased me the next day because I was so freaked out.”
She revealed that her fear helped her be a better actress in the movies and said, “I loathe being scared by scary movies. I scare so easily. It’s the reason that I’m so good at being in them. It’s a natural response for me.”
