Kevin Bacon is as happy as can be 32 years into his marriage to Kyra Sedgwick, and he says there are a lot of positive attributes of their union that contribute to how well they’ve made it work for decades.
While chatting with Entertainment Tonight, the “Footloose” star got particularly candid about how special his and Sedgwick’s bond is, as well as touching on what exactly the two lovebirds still do to keep their relationship as strong as it was when it first began.
Expressing His Emotions
Providing a sweet analogy about his wife from the get go, Bacon referred to Segdwick’s presence in his life as “music.”
“Listen, putting into any kind of words 32 years of marriage is difficult, but she is the music,” he gushed to the publication’s correspondent during their discussion. “And it speaks to music and how powerful that is. That feeling.”
“I lucked out,” he doubled down by saying. “Somehow I found the person that I’m meant to be with and I’ll never take that for granted.”
Bacon is particularly enthralled by how well Sedgwick has performed as “an amazing mother” to their children, Travis, 31, and Sosie, 28.
The actor raved about her contributions to their life and how “she really is” the best thing for their family.
“I think it’s her ability to set up a situation where our children are open and willing to communicate with us. Communication, to me, is one of the secrets to keeping your kids happy and healthy and safe, and it’s not always the easiest thing to hold on to. She has demanded it in a way without crossing too many boundaries,” he added.
‘Can’t Say Enough About Her’
Bacon further commended her ability to establish boundaries with the kids, saying, “She’s very good with boundaries when it comes to our kids. I can’t say enough about her as a mother.”
Beyond chatting about how amazing Sedgwick is, the actor also touched on some details regarding his forthcoming hosting gig for “Play On: Celebrating the Power of Music to Make Change,” saying that excited fans should expect to see a fantastic show from the seemingly stacked lineup of guests compiled for it.
The Forthcoming Show
“I’m absolutely thrilled. I mean, we have all kinds of music … we’re pretty much checking a lot of music genre boxes,” Bacon detailed about the highly-anticipated event.
“And I’ll tell you, the thing that’s really fun about watching the show is the fact that these people are getting a chance to do what it is that they do so well. And they’ve been so hungry to do it for so long, it’s very infectious. You really feel that desire to play.”
“For somebody who’s into music, to give them something to watch felt really good,” he wrapped up by saying, championing the good intentions of the event. “Not to mention the causes and highlighting these venues.”
