Kanye West shocked the world on the Fourth of July when he revealed that he would be running for President of the United States. Many didn’t believe he had any chance though due to everyone knowing how crucial this election was. West had already missed so many deadlines to appear on states’ ballots as well.
On Election Day, he oddly received over 60,000 votes but Joe Biden was the one who comfortably won. This is all with Donald Trump and his supporters’ baseless voter fraud claims.
T.I. Details Relationship With West After His Political Aspirations Took Place
T.I., one of hip-hop’s greats, spoke with HipHopDX and explained his relationship with West despite the madness of running for president. He views Ye as a brother who’s just “trippin.'”
“Ye, I’m going to always appreciate his contributions to the culture and I’m going to always have love for him. I look at him like a brother that’s just tripping. I’m not going to waste much time or energy trying to convince you to turn it around, to see it a different way. I’m just going to sit back and I’m going to continue to love you from a distance and just say you’re tripping.”
T.I. Also Says He Hasn’t Ever Publicly Heard His Verse On West’s ‘Drive Slow’ Song
The Atlanta rapper also spoke on the process of originally being part of West’s “Drive Slow” song. This appeared on West’s “Late Registration” album. The final version featured Paul Wall and GLC. T.I. explained how the song was so long but West still wanted a verse from him. In the end though, he didn’t make the cut.
“I didn’t hear it much played in its entirety. I’ve never heard anywhere — any club, any radio station — the whole thing played from start to finish and I’m the last the verse.”
Fans Are Still Waiting On West’s ‘Donda’ Album
Back in July, after West‘s presidential announcement and his South Carolina rally rant, he announced his 10th studio album, “Donda.” This was named after his late mother who passed away back in 2007.
The album was scheduled for a July 24 release date but that never happened. Fans would go on to not receive any more updates regarding when the project will be available. The last one was West’s gospel-inspired “Jesus Is King” album in 2019, as he also won Gospel Artist of 2020 by Billboard for this.
T.I. Released His ‘The L.I.B.R.A.’ Album This Fall
Back in October, T.I. came through with an album of his own as that was his 11th studio album, “The L.I.B.R.A.” The abbreviation for this project is “Legend Is Back Running Atlanta.” This album contained 20 songs with the lead singles being “Ring” feat. Young Thug and “Pardon” feat. Lil Baby.
Other appearances included John Legend, 21 Savage, Rick Ross, and more. The album went on to peak at No. 18 on the Billboard 200 chart. This was also T.I.’s second album in two years.
