Most people are hoping that 2022 will be the most "normal" year since 2019. The COVID pandemic has certainly gone on for much longer than anyone could've anticipated. Here's to hoping that 2022 will be a year of being outside and meeting up with friends. That being said, if you do find yourself in the need to stay indoors at least you're going to have quite a few things to watch.
According to a list published by IMBD, The Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon is the most anticipated show coming into the year. The author of the award-winning series George R.R. Martin says that he's seen a preview of the series. The British author shared on his official site, that he's really excited for the show, and he believes fans won't be disappointed.
There's Going To Be A Ton To Watch In 2022
As we mentioned, most people hope that 2022 is a year in which everyone will be able to be out and about. Still, when you do decide to take a moment to stream and chill, there are going to be multiple options to pick from. IMBD released their top ten of the most anticipated releases on streaming services. The list goes as follows,

2. The Lord of the Rings
3. Pam & Tommy
4. The Sandman
5. The Last of Us

10. Moon Knight
George R.R. Martin seemed humbled to find that the prequel series for his hit novels is at the top of the list. Sharing on his official site a sentiment that reads,
"That’s a hell of a list to be at the top of, ... Amazon’s new Tolkien series? Neil Gaiman’s SANDMAN? Marvel shows? STAR WARS shows? Good company."
The Author & Creator of Westeros Is Hyping Up The New Series
George R.R. Martin was very honest when talking about the new series House of Dragon. Admitting that he had a bit of a biased opinion. Even if he's not heavily involved in the creative process of this new series, it is his creations that are being taken as inspiration for this new show. Of course, that means he's in line to make a lot of cash if the show hits big. The Game of Thrones creator mentioned though, that he'd seen a preview of the first episode, and he was impressed.
"I am anticipating HOUSE OF THE DRAGON pretty eagerly myself, for what it’s worth. Okay, I am hardly objective. And I know a lot of what you will be seeing. (I, um, wrote the book). Also … mum’s the word now, don’t tell anyone… I’ve seen a rough cut of the first episode. And loved it. It’s dark, it’s powerful, it’s visceral… just the way I like my epic fantasy."
What To Expect From The Game of Thrones Prequel
Good ratings from IMBD and getting the thumbs up from the original author are certainly positive signs. Are Game of Thrones fans going to be getting their money's worth with this series? It certainly remains to be seen. If you believe George R.R. Martin, you can get excited about the series.
He even mentioned this in his post, telling fans, "anticipate away". How long are fans going to have to wait though? The show is going to be released in 2022. However, there hasn't been an official release date set!
