Meredith Marks opened up about her once-strained marriage to husband Seth ahead of tonight’s new episode of “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.”
During an interview with PEOPLE magazine on December 9, Meredith looked back on the moment she thought their marriage was over after admitting during a recent episode of the Bravo reality show that the two of them were separated but “dating each other again.”
“Neither of us thought our marriage was going to make it,” Meredith admitted to the outlet.
Meredith Marks And Husband Seth Grew Apart
“I think we both sort of had this feeling that when the kids left [for college], we’d give it one last shot and that would be that,” she explained.
Meredith and Seth tied the knot in 1996 and share three children, including sons Reid and Brooks and daughter Chloe.
“There were points when we didn’t even want to give it one last shot. It was intense and volatile,” Meredith continued.
According to Meredith, she and Seth’s marriage issues began because they had grown apart over the past few years of their relationship.
Meredith Marks Was Headed To A ‘Dark Space’ With Husband Seth
“We really were headed in a dark space,” Meredith went on.
Luckily, they didn’t give up on one another after informing their children of their issues and seeking counseling, they decided to “try and start over.”
“We really starting to work through things with a marriage counselor to see if there was something worth saving,” she says. “We agreed that we do need room, we do need to live separately, but there’s hope, and let’s see if we can make it happen.”
Meredith Marks Initially Kept Her Separation A Secret
During one recent episode of “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City,” Meredith and Seth were seen discussing their separation over dinner.
“Who have you told that we are separated?” Seth asked. “Do all your friends know we are separated?”
In response, Meredith confirmed that she had kept their issues to herself, at least for the most part.
“It’s not like I’m running around talking about this to everyone,” she said. “I prefer they don’t discuss it.”
One week later, Meredith shared the news with longtime friend and co-star Lisa Barlow.
Meredith Marks Struggled To Be Open With The Cameras
Continuing on to PEOPLE, Meredith admitted that discussing her and Seth’s separation for the cameras was “hard” for her.
“That was really intense for me,” she shared. “But I’ve realized you have to address everything, you can’t just let things go.”
