James Jordan was shot and killed in 1993, after he was sleeping at a North Carolina bus stop. He was in his red Lexus, when two men approached the vehicle, in a robbery attempt. The two men, Larry M. Demery and Daniel Green, also went on to shoot Jordan to death.

Parole Denied For Larry Demery

Jordan was killed at the age of 56, as his body went on to be dumped in a South Carolina swamp. His body was discovered 11 days later. For Larry Demery, he was recently granted parole, after serving 40 years in prison.

Demery's scheduled release was in August 2024, but now, that opportunity at freedom with parole is being scrapped, according to ESPN. This comes after there were original plans for an August 2023 release, but that was pushed back a year. The Post-Release Supervision and Parole stated that this parole agreement has now been "terminated."

"The release said that Demery, who is serving a life sentence for the first-degree murder of James Jordan in 1993, would be reviewed again for parole on or about Dec. 15, 2023."

Demery May Have Violated Terms Of Parole

According to Greg Thomas, a state Department of Public Safety spokesperson, there may have been several factors for Demery's parole being removed. These are reportedly likely due to not following program guidelines, or violating behavior rules while in prison.

Since 2001, Demery has had 19 violations in prison. This includes two for "substance possession" this month. Demery is still being held in prison, at Lincoln County, which is located northwest of Charlotte, NC.

Demery Claimed That Green Was Shot Shot Jordan

Demery and Green have both been in prison for this case since 1996. At trial, Demery also went on to claim that Green was the one who decided to take James Jordan's life. In 1995, Demery ended up pleading guilty to first-degree murder, armed robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery.  Demery was eligible for parole, after receiving a life sentence in 2008. This was due to an "error," in the original sentencing.

Green received life in prison, on the charges of murder during the commission of a robbery and 10 years for conspiracy to commit robbery. In 2019, he was denied an evidentiary hearing, that could've granted him a new trial.
