After days plagued by crashes and system issues, streamers have gotten the opportunity to put some impressive runs on Call of Duty with Black Ops Cold War, and some of them have more than taken advantage.
Two of the streamers whose frustrations were well-documented over the last couple weeks is Lucas “Blaze” Mosing of FaZe Clan and his roommate, popular Twitch streamer “GhostzyTV.”
But after seeing multiple runs shut down by crashes as they were blazing through rounds, Blaze and GhostzyTV finally got their shot early Wednesday.
After Record Goes Down, Emotions Come Out
Eyeing the record of 326, the two got to Round Zero (Round 256) … then kept on going.
Next came the record — which saw an emotional Blaze pause the game so that he and his roommate could share a hug shortly after taking down the mark.
“Can we pause for a second,” Blaze asked as the record went down. “I have to hug my best friend in the whole wide world.”
But the two weren’t done there.
Weeks Of Frustration End With New Record
The duo was able to advance another round, ultimately settling at 328. They hit the mark while using the Ring of Fire Field upgrade.
“WE FKN DID IT!!!!!!!!!!,” Blaze tweeted. “NEW DUO ZOMBIES WORLD RECORD!! 328 ROUNDS!!! NO CRASHES I CAN’T BELIEVE IT!!!”
The record was the culmination of a frustrating couple of weeks for the players who reportedly met randomly on TikTok. In late November, they were at 164 straight when the system crashed and ended their game. A couple of days later, they crashed out at 153.
The Growing World of Blaze
The accomplishment is the latest in a string of events that have raised Blaze’s online profile. He is up to more than 3.5 million YouTube subscribers and 1.6 million Twitter followers, with much of that coming in the weeks since Black Ops Cold War hit the market on Nov. 13.
He has also picked up more than 130,000 followers on Twitch in the last month.
But seemingly as quickly as the pair put up the record, another duo took it down.
Little Time To Celebrate: What Happened To The Record?
Later Wednesday, the Spanish duo of “hydrashitoo” and “juanlokoo” posted a whopping 365 to eclipse the record by nearly 40 rounds … and set a new mark for streamers to aim for.
Canadian player “Des” ended Wednesday with the solo record at 595.
Black Ops Cold War’s Season 1 launches Dec. 10, giving gamers one more week to take aim at records before the action ramps up. Season 1 is expected to integrate Cold War with Black Ops Modern Warfare.
