Rapper Roddy Ricch may be celebrating a brand new American Music Award from last night, but this morning he was hit with a huge lawsuit by his ex-landlord who claims he stiffed them out of rent money!
According to legal documents, obtained by The Blast, a property investment company claims the “Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial” rapper owes them $200,000 in past rent, failed to return the property in good condition.
In the filing, the company says Roddy rented the Encino, CA home on April 1, 2020, for one year, and agreed to pay rent in the amount of $15,950.00 per month. But, they accuse him of stopping payment in July.
Read The Details…Below.
According to the lawsuit, Roddy Ricch gave up possession of the home in August, with the landlord claiming he “breached their lease agreement” by failing to pay the rent that became due on July 1st and every month thereafter.
Plus, Ricch is also being accused of not returning the property to its original condition. AIM Property Investment, Inc claims they have sustained general, special, incidental and consequential damages of at least $200,000 because to date, they have not re-rented the property. They claim, per the lease agreement, Ricch “would be responsible for lost rent and any expenses attributable to re-renting the property.”
It’s unclear at this point why Roddy Ricch left the property, or what type of damages they are accusing him of doing to the house.
As you know, this isn’t the first time a celebrity has had a run-in with their landlords over massive parties, property damage to rental homes, and broken lease agreements.
Rapper Tyga was recently accused of allegedly not paying rent and damaging his L.A. rental property. Rob Kardashian’s and Tyga’s baby mama, Blac Chyna has also been accused of stiffing her landlord, but her lawsuit has since been resolved.
The Timing Is Interesting…See Below.
Roddy Ricch has exploded in the past year with major career success including a huge win during the 2020 American Music Award for Favorite Album – Rap/Hip Hop.
The rapper had massive competition for Artist of the Year, facing The Weeknd, Taylor Swift (who won), Justin Bieber, and Post Malone. But, to be included in that group is a huge accomplishment. All together, Roddy had a total of eight nominations.
One thing is for sure, he will not be winning any awards for best tenant this year! Or, maybe he just got a bigger mansion!
Rich. People. Problems!
