Besides his numerous movies, Katt Williams is well known as a stand-up comedian. He released his first comedy special as early as 2006 then produced several other specials throughout his comedic career.
Throughout his career as a comedian, Williams was quite outspoken about many things, one of which was how he saw himself and his talents. At one point, the actor claimed he was the best comedian in the industry right now. He mentioned that his fans and work resume were testaments to the claim.

The "My Wife And Kids" actor isn't the only popular stand-up comedian around. People like Kevin Hart, Chris Rock, Eddie Murphy, and others are also top-shelf comedians. However, Williams recently said that he didn't think Murphy should be anyone's favorite comedian. Keep reading to find out his reason.
Williams Said He's The Best Comedian Right Now
Williams is notorious for being very outspoken and blunt both on and outside the stage. The comedian even said he thought he was the best comedian alive and said the reason was tied to his fans and the shows he had been on.
Via Atlanta Black Star, the Emmy Winner said, "I'm only the greatest comedian living because I have more female fans than any comes on the globe." He also said that most people didn't acknowledge him because they were trying to downplay him.
He said, "Because the guy that you're saying is crazy and maybe a crackhead has outworked you every second that he has been a peer of yours. You probably have one comedy special; he probably has 10. The greats you talk about probably have two, and he has 10. This is 16 100 city tours."
Why Williams Said Murphy Couldn't Be Anyone's Best Comedian
Among the many reasons Williams listed as the reason he's the best, the comedian mentioned longevity as one. In an interview, he said that he had notched much more tours and ticket sales on his belt than most comedians, mainly due to his ability to adapt. Williams talked about his ability to adapt to change and how it helped him last as long as he did in the industry.
Audacy reported that the comedian said that the area of longevity made him different from his peers and that there was a vast difference between entertainers who were funny and actual comedians.
He said, "I'm also old school, so I don't consider everyone who's funny a come. So somebody would have Jim Carrey as their top five comedians, but they've never seen him do stand up." He also talked about Murphy as one of his idols.

Still, on the topic of longevity, the comedian said that Murphy's lack of it in the industry cancels him out as a comedian. Murphy's last stand-up show was decades ago, so Williams felt it wasn't plausible for anyone to call him the best comedian.
He said, "Don't tell me Eddie Murphy is your favorite comedian because Eddie Murphy hasn't done comedy since the 80s. It just doesn't make sense. It's about how much [of] the body of work you can put out. So, nobody knows was beefing with Mozart, because the guy beefing with Mozart didn't put up any material. You know what I mean? That's why history takes care of all of that."
Williams Considered Two Artists Funnier Than Him
Although Williams mentioned that he was the greatest comedian alive, a few years ago, the 50-year-old talked about two comedians he felt were funnier than him.
In an interview with DJ Vlad, the comedian mentioned that he didn't think he had ever been the funniest person at any point and that he was always conscious that the people he felt were funnier than him.
"I've never been the funniest person on the planet at any point. It doesn't matter if people have a different opinion; it doesn't matter if my fans think differently. They're biased; they should think differently. But now Dave Chappelle has always been funnier than me. Chris Rock has always been funnier than me. I've always been aware of who's funnier than me.
Williams Said He Hasn't Done Drugs Before
In a Zoom call interview with Fat Joe, the actor talked about how he was the greatest comedian, his aversion to drugs, and several other things. Williams claimed he was the greatest comedian alive because he had a close connection with "the people." He also said that people related to things he said and loved him for it.
The popular comedian was also accused of using drugs, but he refuted these accusations. He mentioned that drugs did nothing to increase a performer's creativity despite what most people believe. He said, "The misconception is that there are drugs that can help you do your job. No, there isn't."

He continued, "There aren't drugs that help you memorize to be creative, to come up with something that someone didn't already say. To figure out the funny thing is something tragic. Those are not the effects of drugs; those are the side effects of brilliance."
He also mentioned that marijuana and nicotine were as far as he'd gone with drugs. The comedian mentioned that he decided to not go further than the two a long time ago and stuck to that decision years later.
