Since her appearance in “Harry Potter,” the actress has starred in several other big movies, some of which are “Beauty and the Beast,” “The Perks of Being a Wallflower,” “Little Women,” and several others. Besides her acting career, Watson also went into modeling and embraced activism.
With all these on her plate, it’s no surprise that the actress is leading a busy life. Watson recently revealed that, much like other celebrities, she has two phones, but unlike them, she kept her phones switched off.
Why Watson Has Two Phones
Watson is neither the first nor the only celebrity to have more than one phone. Many celebrities and quite several non-celebs do this to protect their privacy. Although there are many reasons for owning different phones, some people own them in case their details were to be released to the public; they would have something else to fall back on.
Besides that, having separate phones enables people to differentiate the different parts of their lives. In her British Vogue interview, Watson talked about her reason for owning two separate phones.
She said, “I have two phones. I have one — my work phone, and I have a personal phone.” The actress also explained that because she had more than one phone, it didn’t mean that it would be easy to contact her. Watson revealed that she turned off her two phones most of the time to fight stress.
Watson’s Phones Are Turned Off To Combat Stress
In the British Vogue interview, the actress started by talking about the contents of her bag then randomly mentioned that her phones mainly were kept off in a bid to lead a less stressful life. “Both of them are usually dead. This is a strategy of mine. Umm, it’s kind of how I deal with how stressful life can be. It does drive people around me a bit mad, but umm, I do my best.”

Watson’s lack of phone time doesn’t just interfere with her communicating with the people around her; it also reduces her time on social media. In her phone interview with Interview Magazine, the actress talked about how her role in “The Circle” changed her mindset about social media and how it works.
Why Watson Started Limiting Her Social Media Appearance
In the interview, Watson talked about several things, including how she felt about navigating social media life. She said, “I love social media, and I love what it can do and how it brings people together but used in the wrong way; it’s incredibly dangerous. And increasingly, our attention is our most important resource.”
Watson also mentioned that she kept a low profile not only by keeping her phones dead. She also went out of her way to delete apps that distracted her. The 31-year-old revealed, “I deleted my email app from my phone and really tried to create serious boundaries from it because it is addictive.”
“We need to make sure that we are using technology and technology is not using us.” The actress also mentioned that she thought technology was moving too fast and that people were constantly trying to meet up with it. She also said, “The internet is an incredibly powerful force that needs governing— not to restrict our freedom, but to protect people.”
How ‘The Circle’ Changed Watson’s View Of Social Media
Watson also talked about her movie “The Circle” and how it made her think about the rapid technology change. She admitted that she wondered how the generation after her would handle the change and being documented their entire lives.
“Doing this movie, “The Circle,” made me think about all of this in so much more detail. I read the book first, and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. It’s not like a dystopian future—it could be tomorrow,” she said.
The actress also talked about the movie’s influence in how she handled technology afterward and “set even more boundaries” after reading the script. She said the movie gave her more insight into how she would act with her children and not post them on social media before they consent to be comfortable with it.
