Fans learned about Colton Underwood on the 14th season of “The Bachelorette” when he tousled for Becca Kufrin’s heart. He later made the final four and was sent to “Bachelor In Paradise” during the summer of 2018. He briefly re-ignited his fling with Tia Booth, whom he met before “The Bachelorette.”

A year after, ABC named Underwood the season 23 Bachelor. His season began in January 2019, and he had a rocky start. His front runner Cassie Randolph quit the season a few weeks before the finale. He broke up with other finalists and pleaded with Rudolph to give their romance another shot.
After their season on “The Bachelor,” the couple agreed to date. At a point, they began to cohabit. As evidenced by their actions, they were in love. When Underwood even contracted the COVID, Rudolph’s family helped nurse him back to health.
After about a year together, the twosome eventually left for their separate ways in May 2020. He also came out as gay a year after.
He Repressed His Sexuality For A Long Time
In April 2021, Underwood made history when he came out as a gay man in a Good Morning America interview.
“I’ve run from myself for a long time; I’ve hated myself for a long time. And I’m gay, and I came to terms with that earlier this year, and I’ve been processing it, and the next step in all of this was sort of letting people know,” the reality star confessed.

Although he admitted to having nerves, he mentioned that he was finally happy and honest with himself and everyone around him. “I’m like the happiest and healthiest I’ve ever been in my life, and that means the world to me,” he said, before stating emphatically, “I’m proud to be gay.”
Before this, Underwood disclosed that he was formerly ashamed of being gay that he usually took countermeasures to address it. “I was suppressing my sexuality so hard that I was taking medication daily to deal with depression and anxiety, and that made me a paranoid freak,” he confessed.
He didn’t trust anyone either because he was concerned with hiding his true identity. In a heart-to-heart with close friend and confidante Kassidy, the star revealed that one day he “hit rock bottom and took a lot of Xanax in an attempt to stop himself from waking up the following morning.”
Underwood’s And Rudolph’s Split
In 2020, the famous couple from “The Bachelorette” series took to Instagram to announce their split. The pair posted heartfelt posts on their social media and informed their fans that they had decided to end things.
Underwood posted a black and white of the two as they backed the camera. Underwood disclosed that he and Cassie had done some self-reflection in the caption and discovered that they were just meant to be friends. “We both have grown immensely and been through so much together – so this isn’t the end of our story. It’s the start of a whole new chapter for us.”
Rudolph shared her love and thoughts about the split through an Instagram post. She disclosed that this was one of the hardest things to talk about, but their silence in this matter was also very wrong.
“Colton and I have broken up but have decided to remain a part of each other’s lives. With all that we have gone through, we have a special bond that will always be there. I love Colton very much and have an enormous amount of respect for him. We have both learned and grown so much these past couple of years and will always have each other’s back. Always.”
Underwood’s Docu-Series
As confirmed by Us Weekly, the star will be stepping in front of a camera in a Netflix show, which will talk about his new trajectory. “I have a couple of projects that I’m working on that are cool, but I will say this. The next project I’ll do, I’ll have a little more control of as far as what my purpose is and making sure the show itself is purposeful,” he said during a Chat4Good panel anchored by the outlet.

“I’m very, very excited about that. Sooner rather than later, you’ll see what I’m talking about. I can’t get into it quite yet, but I’m not stepping away completely out of the TV.”
The outlet also confirmed that Underwood and Rudolph were recording a shoot, which was set to follow “their lives post-breakup.” An insider told Us in September, “They were in production all summer. However, they both had since pulled out.”
