Over 1.3 million people want the role of Mera recast for the second installment of DC's "Aquaman" franchise, but Amber Heard is not one of them. The 34-year-old actress is defending her position to remain on the cast of the superhero flick and shaking off the public outcry from those who want her ousted and replaced after her ex-husband, Johnny Depp, was removed from his own movie following a ruling in a UK court. After staying silent, Heard is now making it clear she's not going anywhere.

Excited for Filming

The statements by Amber Heard were recently made in an interview with Entertainment Weekly after a petition against the actress surpassed 1 million signatures by those demanding she be kicked off the "Aquaman" sequel by Warner Bros.

"I'm super excited about the amount of fan love and the amount of fan appreciation that Aquaman has acquired and that it has garnered so much excitement for Aquaman and Mera that it means we'll be coming back," Heard confidently told EW last week.

Heard Not Bothered

Although Heard has claimed in the past she believes her war with Johnny Depp cost her work and acting gigs, she doesn't think the public outcry will have any effect on "Aquaman."

"Paid rumors and paid campaigns on social media don't dictate [casting decisions] because they have no basis in reality," the actress told EW.

She added, "Only the fans actually made Aquaman and Aquaman 2 happen. I'm excited to get started next year."

No official state date has been announced, as COVID-19 has upended most Hollywood production schedules.

Public Outcry

As we previously reported, those on a crusade against Amber Heard are not just loyal supporters of Johnny Depp looking for retribution, as a large group of the people against the actress are advocates against domestic violence.

Many advocates against domestic abuse, and survivors of it, believe Heard has abused the #MeToo movement and claim her actions have discredited others fighting similar issues.

Those signing the petition are demanding that Warner Bros. immediately cut ties with the actress, but they have yet to respond to the growing petition.

Support for Johnny Depp

In the wake of Johnny Depp leaving his role as Gellert Grindelwald in the "Fantastic Beasts" franchise, the actor has thanked his fans and supporters for standing by his side throughout the ordeal.

"Firstly I'd like to thank everybody who has gifted me with their support and loyalty. I have been humbled and moved by your many messages of love and concern, particularly over the last few days," Depp recently announced in a statement.

He added, "Secondly, I wish to let you know that I have been asked to resign by Warner Bros. from my role as Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts and I have respected that and agreed to that request."
