Queen Elizabeth delivered her annual Christmas address.

However, the absence of Prince Philip was present throughout her speech.

Prince Philip passed away earlier this year at the age of 99.

The Queen began her speech with an excerpt of a speech she gave on their 50th wedding anniversary in 1997.

She said that as much as she missed him “I know he would want us to enjoy Christmas.”

“While COVID again means we can’t celebrate quite as we may have wished, we can still enjoy the many happy traditions,” she added.

However, she still lamented the “one familiar laugh missing this year.”

She said that she was “proud beyond words” that his work was being continued through their children.

She concluded her speech by saying, “I wish you all a very happy Christmas.”
