‘The Mandalorian’ was first introduced as something of an enigma within Disney’s vast lineup of TV and movie projects. It was simply unheard of for a mega corporation like Lucasfilm or the Mickey Mouse themed business to create any kind of live-action series or specials due to previous projects performing so badly. (And it bears repeating that the Star Wars “Holiday Special” remains the all-time most ridiculed and disliked TV production to ever take place in a galaxy ‘Far Far Away’)
Yet Disney struck gold with this one folks.
A Smash Hit
The first season of “The Mandalorian” was advertised as the flagship series for the DisneyPlus streaming service. Were you to ask anyone why they were signing up for it, they were most likely to say it was because they wanted to see this live-action TV adaption of their favorite fandom.
Did it live up to expectations? No… It fired a proton torpedo into those expectations completely obliterating them! The show has become a critically acclaimed masterpiece, and the second season, so far, is just as good!
100 Million For The Fans
The show not only included a decent budget of 100 million dollars for the first season but brought on Star Wars production legends like Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau (from Star Wars The Clone Wars Animated Series) who brought the show’s ideas to life.
Since then, the crew worked hard to bring about a fitting second season and a continued story arc surrounding this armor-clad bounty hunter. A man without a people but given the responsibility to reunite a 50-year-old child with its own kind.
Ahsoka Live Action
Here are just a few of the comments from people left on Disney’s latest promotional teaser of Chapter 11 of the show. The post went live 4 hours ago and it has already gone viral. Why you might ask? Because a certain Twilek makes an appearance that virtually everyone has been eagerly waiting for!
“No spoilers, but OMG I can’t believe we finally get to see her, and I can’t wait for next weeks episode” (Commentator)
“I loved it, I loved it, I loved it!” (Commentator)
“My favorite episode absolutely loved it @brycedhoward ? @jonfavreau thanks to you and your entire team for adding an extra spark of joy into my week….I was instantly craving more, it gets better and better ?????” (Commentator)
Deadline actually interviewed Dave Filoni just before the release of the second season of ‘The Mandalorian’ and he shared how he views Ahsoka Tano as a relatable character that has an impact upon the audience anywhere she appears, including in the second season of the show.
“Kids related to Ahsoka because she was a kid first and foremost like them. She was someone growing up at a time. Maybe they related to some of the difficulties she had or some of the challenges she had. She’s right next to one of the greatest Jedi of all time, Anakin, and one of the most skilled and one of the most knowledgeable, Obi-Wan Kenobi. It can be hard when your older brother is somebody that’s impressive and somebody that’s sure of himself.”
