Since "Spider-Man: No Way Home" was released on December 17, the movie has been making many waves.

Spider-Man first came into the scene in May 2002 with San Raimi's superhero movie version. Since then, it moved on to "The Amazing Spider-Man" and now finally, the Spider-Man trilogy with Tom Holland.

Thanks to a botched-up spell by Dr. Strange, Peter Parker faced off against several old villains from the multiverse in the newest movie. Actors like Alfred Molina, Willem Defoe, Thomas Haden Church, Jamie Fox, and Rhys Ifans all took back their roles as Doctor Octopus, The Green Goblin, The Sandman, Electro, and The Lizard.

What Villains Were Absent In The Movie?

The latest Spider-Man movie is the last installment of the Spider-Man trilogy with Tom Holland. In "Spider-Man: No Way Home," no new villains were introduced; instead, most of the old villains throughout the multiverse made appearances on screen.

In addition, Jake Gyllenhaal's Mysterio and Micheal Keaton's Vulture from Holland's first two Spider-Man movies didn't appear in the movie. However, Keaton told The Hollywood Reporter that Vulture would be in Marvel's 2022 "Morbius."

Although all the villains in the flick were from Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's time as Spider-Man, not all villains were represented. Eddie Brock, aka Venom from Maguire's last Spider-Man movie, wasn't in attendance.

Besides him, James Franco, who played Peter's best friend turned enemy, Harry Osborn in Raimi's original Spider-Man, and Dane DeHaan, who took over the role in "The Amazing Spider-Man," was noticeably absent.

The Green Goblin And Electro Were In 'Spider-Man: No Way Home'

Raimi released his much anticipated Spider-Man movie in 2002 and unknowingly introduced one of the most iconic villains in the Spider-Man franchise, the Green Goblin. Willem Defoe played Norman Osborn, also known as the Green Goblin.

Osborn was the father of Harry Osborn, Peter's best friend and the head of Oscorp, a vast corporation. After facing bankruptcy, the businessman took drastic measures that ended with his split personality as Osborn and the Green Goblin.

Osborn appeared in "Spider-Man: No Way Home" as one of Peter's biggest challenges due to his ability to get inside his head. He had much more screen time than villains like Lizard and Sandman, who had barely any time on screen or inaction.

Electro alias Max Dillion was another high-profile villain in the movie. Jamie Foxx played this role, and he first appeared in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2." He turned into a blue-skinned lightning bolt after falling into a tank of genetically engineered electric eels. Dillion was defeated after being overcharged by Peter and Mary Jane.

In the movie, the villain was noticeably a lot different and much more powerful due to his lack of blue skin and huge character level up.

Doctor Octopus, Lizard Man, And The Sandman Were In 'Spider-Man: No Way Home'

Doctor Otto first appeared in "Spider-Man 2" and was a nuclear scientist who worked for Osborn. A scientific demonstration gone wrong led to the scientist being controlled by AI-run robotic tentacles.

Although he caused his share of damage, towards the end of his appearance in the movie, Doctor Otto gave a glimpse of the good man he was before he resorted to violent means to achieve his goals.

Lizard Man was one of the first villains in Garfield's "The Amazing Spider-Man" in 2012. In the movie, Dr. Kurt Connors performed several regenerative experiments on himself to regrow a lost arm, but the attempts backfired and turned him into a Lizard Man.

After his crushing defeat in "The Amazing Spider-Man," the scaly scientist appeared in "Spider-Man: No Way Home." He had less screen time than other villains, and his presence was overall not felt as much as the other threats Parker faced. Connors was put out of action almost like he was finished off in the original movie.

Flint Marko, also known as Sandman, is another Marvel villain who appeared in "Spider-Man: No Way Home." Sandman was last seen trying to make amends for his past actions to Peter in the original Spider-Man's third movie. The former burglar appeared in the new Spider-Man movie as another villain facing Peter.

Venom Was In 'Spider-Man: No Way Home'

The Spider-Man franchise's official supervillain team, the Sinister Six, didn't make a full appearance in the film because of the noticeable absence of Eddie Brock, aka Venom. Peter fought only five in the newest movie, unlike the comics where the web-slinger fought half a dozen villains.

Although Venom didn't fight in the latest installment, he did make an appearance. After zapping in from his universe, Tom Hardy reprised his role as the symbiote. He came in a mid-credits scene but was zapped out before talking to Peter. Although he was taken back, a piece of the alien was left behind, ensuring that his reappearance in the future was inevitable.
