What Do Fans Think Of The Netflix Comedy 'Don't Look Up'?

After a long wait, the comedy "Don't Look Up" was finally released on Netflix for audiences to enjoy.

The star-studded cast included Jennifer Lawrence, Leonardo DiCaprio, Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill, Cate Blanchett, Timothée Chalamet, Chris Evans, and Ariana Grande.

The film tells the story of two astronomers from Michigan State who begin a media tour to warn the public that an approaching comet is about to destroy the planet after the President tells them to "sit tight" with the information until after the mid-term elections are over.

Critics were divided on the Adam McKay comedy, which only scored a 56% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Audiences seemed to rate it much more favorably, earning a score of 77%.

Frederic and Mary Ann Brussat from “Spirituality & Practice” gave the movie a 5/5, writing, “A thought-provoking parable, both funny and sad, about the reactions to the consequences of climate change.”

Gary M. Kramer of Salon.com wrote, “’Don't Look Up’ makes a few decent points and gets a chuckle or two, but mostly, it is leaden when it could be farcical, sluggish when it could be screwball. This end of the world comedy should have just been more fun.”

Preston Barta of the Denton Record-Chronicle wrote, “'Don't Look Up' very clearly has a lot on its mind. Ideas shoot out of it like a firehose, but there's a poetic, melancholic nature to all its insanity. One of the year's very best works!”

Becca James of the Chicago Reader, wrote, “The Adam McKay film stays true to the writer-director's signature style. It's star-studded, and the edits often wink at the audience, but it's not so fun being in on the joke this time around.”

Manohla Dargis of the New York Times wrote, “In the end, McKay isn't doing much more in this movie than yelling at us, but then, we do deserve it.”

The runtime is long but it flies by. I wanted more. The cast is star-studded and so well utilized, Meryl Streep's president Orlean was hilarious, Leo and Jennifer killed it in the leads, it was such a fabulous insane mash of everything and super funny too. Can't stop thinking about this movie. Everyone should watch it.”
